DELTA: Udumurhie FC has emerged as champions of the 2024 Osubi Unity Cup after defeating Team Elite in a dramatic penalty shootout at the Osubi Community Secondary School field on Sunday.
The match, which ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes, saw Udumurhie FC secure a 7-6 victory on penalties, capping the thrilling finale of the fourth edition of the annual tournament.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who witnessed the grand finale, praised the competition for fostering peace, unity, and youth engagement within Osubi and its neighboring communities…..

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Oghenede Roy Uremu, highlighted the significance of the event, which he described as more than just a football tournament.
“This competition is a celebration of our uncommon unity, oneness, and peace. It has become a major end-of-year tradition for the Osubi people, combining the excitement of sports with community bonding,” Uremu said.

He revealed that this year’s edition featured 288 participants, including nine local teams and three guest teams. “It’s a local competition, but we welcome guest teams to improve its quality and competitiveness. Team Elite, the runners-up, is one of the guest teams,” Uremu added.
