UPDATE:Delta APC Crisis Deepens as LGA Party Chairmen Reject Akpeki

The Delta All Progressive Congress APC leadership tussle has taken a turn for the worse as chairmen from Delta Central Senatorial District rejected Chief Paulinus Akpeki’s appointment as acting state chairman.

In a joint statement signed by eight local government chapter chairmen, including Hon. Onoabedje Obakpororo (Ughelli North), Comrade Wilfred Ileleji (Uvwie), and Chief Julius Ogboru (Ethiope East), the chairmen described the appointment as unconstitutional and detrimental to the party’s unity.

“The recent appointment of Chief Paulinus Akpeki as acting state chairman of the APC in Delta State is a blatant violation of the party’s constitution,” the statement read.

The chairmen cited Article 14.2 of the APC Constitution, which mandates that the deputy state chairman should assume leadership in the absence of the substantive chairman. They accused the State Working Committee (SWC) of bypassing due process and warned that the move could deepen divisions within the party.

“The group further described the SWC’s actions as politically motivated and reckless, alleging that the decision served hidden agendas rather than democratic principles.

“We urge the SWC to rescind this appointment immediately and adhere to the constitutional framework they pledged to uphold,” the chairmen stated. “Leadership decisions must reflect due process and foster unity rather than division.”
