Social activist and influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as “VeryDarkMan,” led a peaceful candlelight procession in Awka, Anambra State, on Tuesday, demanding justice for the murdered entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, known as “Fish Magnet.” The march, which drew hundreds of youths, was a strong protest against the rising insecurity in Southeast Nigeria.

Onyekere, the managing director of Fish Magnet Outlet, was abducted from his home in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, on July 27, and his body was later found despite the payment of a ransom. His death has sparked outrage across the state, with VeryDarkMan organizing the procession to highlight the failure of security operatives to protect citizens and entrepreneurs.

Addressing the crowd, VeryDarkMan criticized the security breaches in Anambra and other parts of Nigeria, emphasizing that the protest was a non-political effort to mourn a youth whose life was cut short. He warned that such incidents discourage young people from starting businesses, as they face the daily threat of assault, abduction, and killing.
The protesters, dressed in all-black attire, marched from Aroma Junction to key locations in Awka, including the Government House and Onyekere’s business outlet. Their placards carried messages demanding justice and accountability from the government.
In a separate development, the Anambra State Police Command had earlier warned the social media influencer against making statements that could incite public unrest, noting that Onyekere’s family had distanced themselves from any organized memorial activities
