The Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Festus Ani Ashima, has applauded the transformative role of Odokun Secondary School in the educational and social development of riverine communities, describing the institution as “a beacon of hope and a catalyst for youth empowerment.”

Hon. Ashima made this known while delivering a goodwill message at the school’s Anniversary and Graduation Ceremony held in Oboghoro community, a prominent Itsekiri settlement in Warri North.

The event had in attendance top dignitaries including Dr. Goodwin Ebosa, former Warri North Council Chairman and foremost leader in the area,Hon Michael Didien amongst others.
Addressing a crowd of students, parents, teachers, and dignitaries, the Chairman praised the founders and management of the school for their unwavering commitment to education in hard-to-reach areas.

“Odokun Secondary School has done more than just provide access to education; it has helped reshape the future of our youth, especially in the riverine communities of Warri North.
It has reduced rural-urban migration and created a sustainable learning environment right here in Oboghoro,” he stated.

Hon Ashima also commended community leaders, past administrators, and stakeholders—including private individuals—who have contributed to the development and sustenance of the school, especially those who ensured the continued operation of the institution even in difficult times.
“The efforts of our champions—those who understand the importance of investing in education—must not go unnoticed. Their foresight has created lasting change for this community,” Hon. Ashima added.

The colourful ceremony featured cultural performances, award presentations, and emotional farewells from graduating students who spoke glowingly about their experiences at the school.
Odokun Secondary School, established in Oboghoro community as a model educational institution in the riverine area, has become a symbol of community-driven development.
