Warri Wolves, Delta Queens Lift Delta FA Cup Titles in Thrilling Finals

DELTA: Warri Wolves and Delta Queens emerged victorious in the 2025 Delta State Football Association (FA) Cup, showcasing their dominance in both the men’s and women’s categories.

In an electrifying final match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Warri Wolves secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sapele Lions to claim the coveted trophy and a cash prize of ₦1 million. 

The match, which attracted hundreds of passionate fans, saw both teams locked at 1-1 by halftime before Warri Wolves netted the winning goal in the second half.

Speaking after the match, Warri Wolves captain Innocent Orugbe attributed the triumph to the team’s resilience and divine grace. “We fought hard for this victory. It wasn’t an easy game, but our teamwork and determination made the difference,” he said.

Earlier, in the women’s final, Delta Queens dominated Delta Babes with a commanding 2-0 win to lift the trophy and a cash reward of ₦300,000. Their clinical performance underscored their reputation as one of the strongest women’s teams in the state.

Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adode, commended the participating teams for their sportsmanship and lauded the state government for fostering football development. 

“The quality of play this year was exceptional. Delta State remains committed to nurturing young football talent and promoting the sport at all levels,” he stated.

The competition concluded with the presentation of trophies and medals to the victorious teams, reinforcing Delta’s position as a hub for grassroots football development in Nigeria.
