Wife Arraigned for Falsely Accusing Husband of Abuse, Coached Children to Lie

In a disturbing case of alleged false accusation, the Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a married woman who fabricated claims that her husband had defiled their two young daughters, instructing her children to back the false narrative.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, issued a statement today, November 13, detailing the outcome of the investigation into the complaint lodged by Okonkwo Chisom (29).

The case originated on November 25, 2025, when Chisom reported to the Emene Police Division that her husband, Okonkwo Ozioma, had been defiling their five and three-year-old daughters and threatening to kill her if she revealed his actions. Following the husband’s arrest, however, a diligent police investigation determined that the allegations were entirely false and misleading.

Police findings revealed that the specific periods in 2024 and 2025 during which Chisom claimed the offenses occurred were times when she had traveled alone with all the children to their hometown in Imo State. Furthermore, the couple’s seven-year-old son provided two separate, handwritten voluntary statements to the police, exonerating his father and disclosing that his mother had coached him and his sisters to falsely accuse their father—a fact corroborated by video evidence.

Upon realizing that the investigation was rapidly unveiling the truth and turning against her, Chisom attempted to withdraw the case and halt further police action.

Consequently, having failed to substantiate her serious allegations, Chisom Okonkwo was found to have defamed her husband and provided false information to law enforcement. She was subsequently arraigned before the Magistrate Court of Enugu State on a two-count charge of defamation and giving false information. The court granted her bail, and the case was adjourned for further hearing.
