As the global community gears up to commemorate World Health Day,The Royal Iwere Foundation, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday 4th April organized a community-based health awareness campaign focused on combating parasitic infections and promoting children’s well-being.
The initiative spearheaded by Her Royal Majesty, Olori Atuwatse III,was held at the Central Mosque in Warri and attracted a large turnout from the local community.
The outreach aimed to educate the public on the dangers of parasitic infections and highlight the importance of preventative health practices, particularly among children.
A WHO representative Mr Missan, opened the event by underlining global efforts in tackling preventable diseases and advocating for healthier communities.
This was followed by an informative session from the Health Educator for the Warri South Zone, Mrs Beatrice, emphasized the critical role of deworming and its positive impact on children’s health.
Medical professionals also engaged directly with attendees, offering insights into the early signs of worm infestations and practical prevention strategies. Their expert advice was both timely and well-received by the community.
Reacting, the Lead Imam of the Central Mosque,Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Ajisafe, praised the Royal Iwere Foundation and expressed deep appreciation to the Olu of Warri and Olori Atuwatse III. He also called for sustained efforts to ensure the continuity of such beneficial programs.
As part of the initiative, children received deworming medication, educational materials, and refreshments, all in a friendly and interactive atmosphere.
One participant shared their thoughts, saying, “We’re really grateful to Olori Atuwatse III. This kind of initiative brings health closer to the people, especially our children.”
